Executive Summary

Cardinal Health retains its No 7 spot in this year's Clinica 100 league table. Cardinal Health made one small acquisition in 2014, acquiring AccessClosure, a maker of extravascular closure devices, for $320m. However, this year it pushed the boat out and signed a $1.94bn deal to acquire Johnson & Johnson’s interventional cardiology business Cordis, the one-time leader in coronary stents. The acquisition ties in with Cardinal Health’s strategy to offer high-value but commoditized products in a cost-efficient way.
